AB Actas has implemented the project “Digitisation of production processes in AB Actas to increase labour productivity in the company” (project No. 03.3.1-LVPA-K-854-01-0063). For the implementation of this project, the company has been granted up to €193,955 (one hundred and ninety-three thousand, nine hundred and fifty-five euro) in support from the European Regional Development Fund under facility No. 03.3.1-LVPA-K-854 “Digitisation of Industry LT” of the Priority 3 “Promoting the Competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” of the Operational Programme of the European Union Funds for Investments of the European Union Funds for the period 2014-2020.

AB Actas (the company) is a small Lithuanian-owned company (up to 50 employees), whose main activity is the production of vinegar, marinades, sauces and syrups from agricultural products (ethyl alcohol, concentrated apple juice, unprocessed white wine, glucose-fructose syrup, etc.). AB Actas pays a lot of attention to the modernisation and automation of existing technological equipment and to the introduction of new product formulations to the market.

In 2016-2017, the company's production was modernised - a modern vinegar packaging line with a bottle blowing machine was installed (capacity – 6000 bottles/hour) and an innovative drive-in, mechanised warehouse racking system was installed in the warehouse. In order to compete in an intensely competitive environment, in 2020 the company automated its production activities and installed an automatic deep vinegar fermentation line, which allows for the fermentation of alcohol with an acidity of up to 20%, significantly increasing the efficiency of the existing technological process.

The introduction of modern digital manufacturing technologies has not only enabled the company to automate and mechanise its production processes, it has also enabled the integration of both new and existing production equipment into a common automated production process control system. The company has also gained the ability to monitor production in real time, record the number of equipment cycles and downtime, ensure the traceability of raw materials and finished products, etc. All of this made it possible to increase labour productivity, created conditions for the growth of competitiveness and ensured the long-term development of the company's activities.

The digital manufacturing technologies and equipment deployed are fully compliant with the requirements of Industrial Revolution 4.0, integrating IT, automation and mechanics into a single, integrated entity.
